The Johnston County Alzheimer’s and Dementia Association is the brainchild of a visionary – David Wilson of Smithfield. He was his wife’s primary caregiver for multiple years, before having to place her in a local memory care community. He has had to navigate multiple challenges during those years, sometimes alone, after initially doing it together with his wife. He wants to make the Johnston county community aware of the massive impact of this debilitating disease on both the person diagnosed with it, and also on their family and friends.
